August Films with Benefits: Musicians Can Act, Too!
Films with Benefits, Fortune & Glory's exclusive hi-fi film trivia event returns on Thursday, August 17 at 7pm for another rousing edition of trivia celebrating cinema's best of the best.
- Remember when Will Smith was better known as a rapper?
- Remember where Cher's catchphrase, "Snap out of it!" comes from?
- Remember why Madonna fornicated a man to death in Portland's Pittock Mansion?
- Remember how Marky Mark was nominated for an Oscar... for ACTING?!?!
We know you do! And now's the time to belt out that frivolous knowledge! Because, of course, we're talking about that rarified class of hyphenates known as the Actor-Musician. But more specifically for our purposes, we're talking about folks who started out as musicians and then transitioned to acting careers. Some only stuck their toe in for a flick or two, while others dove in head-first and never emerged from the acting pool.
Dolly, Tupac, Beyoncé, Bowie, Bjork, Prince, Awkwafina, Elvis... the list is longer than Gene Simmons' tongue and wider than Mariah Carey's octave range! So join us on Thursday, August 17th at 7pm for our next hi-fi movie-themed trivia night: Musicians Can Act, Too!
Just how do you prep for this epic event? For starters, pop in to Video Horizons and stock up on your favorite DVDs and Blu-rays, or log in to your favorite streaming service and press the Play button.

- We will crown our winner with a gift certificate to Video Horizons or gift subscription to the Criterion Channel. We'll also present a gift certificate for snacks to our runners up.
- The event is comprised of several sections, each separated by a break so you can grab another beverage or snack --or use the restroom.
- We'll kick off at 7pm. You can still participate if you arrive late, but you'll reduce your chances of a high score if you miss the first round of questions
- As our taproom is all ages, so is this event! That said, as the event involves questions about --and audio/video segments from-- films, we advise that adult language might be present in materials.
- You can definitely join as an observer --participation is totally optional!
- We have limited capacity, so the event is first come, first seated.
- The Fortune & Glory team is excited to provide a fun option for our friends and colleagues to gather in good company for laughter and fun-spirited competition around one of our civilization's greatest shared experiences: cinema.
